1. HORIZONTAL ICONOGRAPHS
Iconographs allow you to use ANY image to represent a score and we’ve added the option to have the “filling in” gradient move left to right:
For extra flash and sizzle, use your client’s logos and product images as the actual graph:
Making these iconographs couldn’t be easier – just use any widget with a scoring graph (such as YOUR SCORE or SCORE COMPARISON), enter the web address where your image is uploaded and (if desired), select “Fill horizontally”:
2. SOCIAL MEDIA OPTIONS ADDED TO WIDGETS
Social Media Monitoring is turning into the biggest SASSIE monster since Dragon itself, so we’ve put them together for the biggest team up since King Kong joined forces with Godzilla!
We’ve added Social Media options to nearly all of the Dragon’s widgets. For the first time, you can use any survey comparing widget to plot social media vs mystery shopping performance. It’s the ultimate in cross-discplinary Business Intelligence!

Social Media Word Cloud: Your clients can view the most frequently used words in their social media feedback … but never forget that SASSIE’s Word Clouds are more than pretty fluff. Clicking on any word immediately displays all of the reviews that contain that word, making Word Clouds a truly interactive tool.

Social Media Rating Distribution: Averages never tell the whole story – this widget shows where the social media ratings fell across the various star ratings.

4. EXPORT TO EXCEL
One of the most surprisingly common requests we’ve received was the ability to export Dragon data to an Excel-compatible format. We’ve added that feature in the Dragon toolbar:

Employee Spotlight: Our Death Row Doggie Rescuers!
So what are SurfMerchants doing when we’re not working on SASSIE, Presto, etc.? One activity that several of us have recently been involved in is rescuing dogs that have run out of time and are about to euthanized.
Here’s Ezra, a big puppy that literally wandered into my brother’s house in southern Georgia. He likely has some pit bull and/or mountain cur in him, which made him less likely to be adopted before he ran out of time in his shelter. On his euthanasia date, we flew our SASSIE project manager Kenzie down to Georgia to pick Ezra up and drive him back all the way to Boston (pictured above – he certainly looks happy on his journey!).
Our Presto quality assurance engineer Katie agreed to foster him … which turned into a very happy “Foster Fail” when she permanently adopted him. Now he’s our unofficial office dog, a goofy sociable boy who’s constantly on the prowl through the office in search of pets and treats.
And here’s Smokey, a 5 year Jack Russell terrier from Rhode Island who was due to be euthanized by his owner because of his recent biting history (possibly brought on by some abuse). No shelter would take him because of his biting, so it was Kenzie to the rescue again! When she picked Smokey up, he was so scared that he snapped any time anyone tried to pet him.
After a week of careful, patient fostering in my house, Smokey completely transformed into a happy, cuddly, affectionate little guy who will play fetch until your arm falls off and then jump into your lap and bury you in sloppy kisses. We found a wonderful couple in PA with the experience to handle his issues (another road trip for Kenzie!) and with any luck there will be a happy holiday ending to his journey!
While we’ve always made donations to animal service organizations, it’s been a truly rewarding experience to be able to take on a more hands on approach this year!
